Material Hub

© Marc Mosch

Material Hub is an openly accessible, free-to-use and centralized material research platform that enables researchers and users from industry, arts and crafts to access a large number of highly heterogeneous databases simultaneously for their materials research. A uniform search mask as well as hidden semantic enrichment and data integration ensure that the desired information can be found more quickly. In addition to overview searches, which for example provide all entries for a certain class of materials or all products of a certain manufacturer, it is possible to obtain the properties of a specific material and to find materials based on desired properties or potential applications.

Material Hub is developed at the Saxon State and University Library Dresden (SLUB).

Förderung

Material Hub was developed from October 2016 to September 2021 in the ERDF-funded project of the same name at SLUB Dresden. It has been further developed since October 2021 in the DFG-funded specialist information service Materialwissenschaft und Werkstofftechnik (FID Materials Science).

Cooperation

Our offer to you

We offer manufacturers and suppliers the free opportunity to present their their materials and semi-finished products to customers in the Material Hub. As a scientist, you have the opportunity to publish your research results in the Material Hub free of charge, thus increasing the visibility and influence of your research and finding potential cooperation partners.

We support you in transferring your data to the Material Hub.

Pilot project with the VDMA

Together with the Chair of Processing Machines/Processing Technology at the TU Dresden and the German Engineering Federation (VDMA), a pilot project for the integration of food contact materials in the Material Hub is underway. The Coordination is carried out by a steering committee consisting of Judith Binzer and Michael Przytulla from VDMA, Ines Bradshaw from Krones AG, Marcel Niebuhr from Sollich KG, Michael Richter from Herding GmbH, Christian Geubert from Angst+Pfister GmbH and Sebastian Kricke from TU Dresden. We would like to thank Dr. Peter Golz for his many years of support.
